Choose the Best Glove for the Best Job
By David Shutt
Product Manager, Best Manufacturing Company
The ability to fit the right glove to the application has been a ringing theme throughout the history of the glove industry
From the first fully dipped latex glove more than 55 years ago to the evolution of today's superior palm-dipped technology, industrial users have seen increasingly larger offerings. At the same time, gloves have become more and more task-specific.
Best Manufacturing and other glove manufacturers are utilizing differentiating technologies in everything from liner design and composition to polymer development to meet the hand and arm protection requirements of today's industrial workforce. The result is gloves designed to ensure grip and worker productivity, gloves with increased abrasion and cut resistance performance, washable gloves, hi-visibility gloves for safety checks, black gloves for stealth applications, and gloves with just the right combination of dipped surface and breathable, top-of-hand protection.
A few select glove manufacturers have taken extreme measures to help the worker increase output by optimizing glove design for maximum comfort, increased maneuverability and reduced hand fatigue - all the while increasing protection for the worker and reducing nuisance hand injuries in the making.
Best Manufacturing has been a leader in this arena with the development of its "sponge nitrile technology" and its Zorb-IT® family of products. Hailed as a revolutionary design, the ZorbIT glove family represents a breakthrough concept in grip from the worldwide leader in hand protection technology. Engineered to deliver a sure grip in the most difficult oily, greasy conditions, the tough ZorbIT® glove family beats the competition nearly two-to-one in oil/grease absorption and three-to-one in launderability. All ZorbIT gloves are dipped in Best's sponge nitrile that stands up to repeated washings without losing gripping power, delaminating or shrinking.
Importantly, Zorb-IT gloves are designed to meet specific task requirements. For example, the original hard-working Zorb-IT® 4550 glove has a durable nylon shell and is flat dipped in sponge nitrile to offer the wearer greater oil/wet grip capabilities as compared to other foam and nitrile palm dipped styles Its cousin, the cut-resistant. It's cousin, the Zorb-IT Ultimate 4560 - with its shell of cut-resistant Kevlar® fibers spun with stretchable, breathable Lycra® and sponge nitrile-dipped grip - is the answer for tasks with high risk of hand cuts. The newest Zorb-IT introduction, Zorb-IT Extra 4575, is three-quarter dipped to provide over the knuckle protection and has the same tough nylon shell as the original ZorbIT glove.
Best Manufacturing's Menlo, Georgia, Research and Development department is continually assessing industrial hand and arm protection needs to ensure that for every application there is a Best glove that is indeed the best glove for the job. This fall, Best plans to expand the Zorb-IT glove family with at least two new glove designs - both of which were created with industrial worker hand and arm protection in mind. Best and Zorb-IT are definitely the ones to watch when it comes to hand and arm protection to meet the varying requirements of today's industrial workplace.
